Everyday moods present themselves within us and when when they happen in the wrong time and wrong place, it can be hard to properly express them. When moments like these happen, music can provide solace and help us overcome or enhance our emotions. The most common moods can be personified by the following five albums. Whether you are in a mood, don’t know what mood your in, or are embarking upon an emotional breakdown, they know just how you feel:
When you need to angrily punch the air and scream out your frustrations, TSSF’s album, Under Soil And Dirt, has you covered. The following songs are ranked on their level of anger:
Mildly Frustrated Angry Pure Rage:
Four Years
Rally Cap
Swords And Pens
Placeholder
Daughters
Closure
So if you’re feeling frustrated, choose a song like Closure or Placeholder, if you are feeling more like you need to rage then choose High Regard.
For those days when you just feel a little somber or can’t get out of bed. Maybe you should listen to something more positive, but you are not in the mood to be anything but a negative Nancy. Listening to this album will do anything but allow you to put yourself back together, but it’s perfect for the times you just need to let the tears flow and the sadness overcome you.
A Little Down Sad Depressed
Late Nights In My Car
Old And All Alone
So if you’re a little down, choose a song like “Late Nights In My Car,” whose upbeat sound provides a little less depressive feel than other Real Friends’ songs. If you are feeling more like you are in a depressed, your dog is your only friend mood, then choose a heart-ringer like, “I’ve Given Up On You.”
When you are ecstatic about your day and can’t stop smiling, Paramore’s Self-Titled album is perfect for you. It will leave you wanting to jump around like Haley William’s so characteristically does on stage. If you need a pick me up, this album does the trick as well.
Content Happy Jumping with Joy
Daydreaming
Interlude: Moving On
Hate To See Your Heart Break
(One Of Those) Crazy Girls
Part II
Last Hope
So, in recap, when you’re enjoying the day, it’s nice outside, and you are content as can be listen to songs like Interlude: Moving On. When you are bouncing off the walls from joy and just can’t control your happiness, “Ain’t it fun,” is your jam.
There are some days when you just feel chill, like all your moods evaporated into thin air. When I picture hearing relaxation, I imagine it sounding something like Circa Survive’s album, “Blue Sky Noise.” After listening to this album all the way through, you’ll finally be able to look at stress and say, “I fell apart in your arms for the last time and I felt free.”
At Ease Relaxed Stressless
Fever Dreams
Get Out
The Longest Mile
Through The Desert Alone
So, if you are easing into relaxation listen to songs like “Get Out.” If you couldn’t have a care in the world and are completely stress free, listen to songs like “I Felt Free.”
For the days when you are amped up to the max and have too much energy to channel, Comeback Kid’s album, “Wake The Dead,” is the way to go. It’s upbeat, full throttle songs will make sure you stay amped up for the day.
Slightly Energized Pumped Amped to the Max
Bright Lights Keep Shining
The Trouble I Love
This was a tough one to rate, because all the songs keep you readily pumped. There are no downers in this album, so instead of using an energy drink to keep your blood pumping, listen to Comeback Kid instead.
Most days we feel a concoction of these moods. Some days we feel all of them. If you want to keep your mood rolling, choose the album that best suits you. If you want to stop feeling a certain way, then pick an album that defines the feeling you are wanting to elicit within yourself. If you don’t know what mood you are in, listen to all of the albums and focus on the one that speaks most to you. Either way, music has the power to make you feel and these albums are particularly strong at doing so.
